Top Five Arabic GCSE Books

The Top Five Arabic GCSE Books for learners. This is a reading selection.

  1. The Quran – its not technically a GCSE Arabic text but if you are coming from a Quranic Arabic background and know some tajweed you might just have an advantage on many beginners of Arabic. It is also packed with grammar concepts, and terminology which are used in Modern standard Arabic.
  2. A textbook, there are too many to mention, most of which will do the job, although there are some that are better than others. Here is not the place to get into the differences, and preferences.
  3. An Arabic dictionary such as the Oxford Essential Arabic-English, English-Arabic, or Al Mawrid etc. Not just Google translate.
  4. A children’s book that has short stories. This will help to reinforce what you learn elsewhere and get to grips with the basics.
  5. Pearson specification for GCSE Arabic. You have to know the structure of the exam, this can also be explained by a tutor, but it is advisable to read the most important areas.

This will help to get you started, and keep the momentum up throughout your studies but it is not all about just reading.

For further support with reading, listening, speaking, writing, culture and grammar contact us, and we can put you in touch with a tutor.
